I grew up in the small town of Frontenac, Kansas (right next to Pittsburg). Growing up in a small town was wonderful and I am so glad that my kids got to experience the same things I did being in Garden Plain. From high school I went on to Pittsburg State University and received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Eduacation in 1999.
1999- Bachelor's in Elementary Education (PSU)
I have most recently attended a 2 week training in Orton Gillingham.
This is my 23rd year at Garden Plain Elementary. I orignally taught 4th grade for 3 years, moved to 1st grade for one year, and have spent the rest of my time in 3rd grade.
My family has some big changes this year. For the first time in 22 years my husband, Eric, will not be coaching football. He is still teaching at the high school and coaching track but we are hoping to be spending lots of our weekends watching Pittsburg State football. Tanner, my oldest, is a football player at Pitt State and my youngest, Kade, will start his freshman year at Pitt State as well. It is very quiet around our house without any kids around!
In my spare time I enjoy being with family and friends. We spend many weekends in Pittsburg visiting my parents and my own children who are going to college.
