“STUCO” stands for student council. It is a school organization consisting of GPMS students who volunteer their time to actively participate in planning/creating fun events and fundraisers for Garden Plain middle school throughout the year.

STUCO is an effective way for developing student leaders. Empowered students are vehicles for positive change in our school and in the community. Student leaders have the responsibility to be positive role models. Our STUCO is a little different from other places in that any middle schooler can attend rather than an elected few. Students can choose when to join throughout the year, not just from the beginning of the year.

Stuco members meet every Thursday morning at 7:30 am before school to work on different school projects such as planning a pep rally or school dance, creating locker signs to promote school spirit, or getting Christmas Santa pictures and Valentine cookies prepped during those seasons, just to name a few of the events Stuco organizes. The student council helps share students' ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers, as well as the school principal.
